This is a combo ticket to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina and the adjacent Mdina Cathedral Museum: • explore St. Paul’s Cathedral built in 1702 where governor Publius lived when he was appointed as the first Bishop of Malta in 60 AD by St. Paul who was shipwrecked on the island • appreciate the Cathedral's colourful inlaid marble floor, frescoed ceiling and a plethora of other marvellous features including altarpieces, paintings, marble works, intricate woodwork, silver artefacts, statues and stained glass windows • visit the adjacent Mdina Cathedral Museum which houses fine silverware, rare coins, an important collection of prints and engravings by Albrecht Dürer one of the greatest Northern Renaissance artists, Maltese objects d’art, wax reliefs, a trompe l’oeil Baroque dome, many paintings and other artefacts • visit St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Mdina Cathedral Museum in any order you wish. Today’s excursion takes us to the central part of Malta, dominated by the medieval fortified city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital city. The narrow, winding streets, dating back to medieval times, lead to the imposing bastions, commanding a magnificent panorama of the island. On the way there, you will discover different styles of architecture, including Siculo-Norman palaces and other baroque buildings of great historical importance. Time stands still in this ‘silent city’ which is a film-maker’s paradise. Leaving Mdina through Greeks’ Gate, we stop at the early Christian Catacombs in Rabat before proceeding to the cliffs at Dingli. After lunch we will visit the San Anton botanical gardens situated near the Presidential Palace, which you will be able to admire from outside. We shall also spend time at the crafts centre at Ta’ Qali. At the end of the tour, allow us to astound you with Mosta’s majestic dome, one of Europe’s largest.

We will be having a taste of what’s cooking in the pot as we walk through two beautiful towns and discover the locality with all it has to offer beyond the food itself. Accompanied by a fully licensed professional guide, you will discover the two beautiful towns of Mdina and Rabat whilst trying some of the most traditional dishes our islands offer. We start by walking through Mdina past the aristocratic palaces after having the famous pastizzi along with the local drink Kinnie. After walking past the Cathedral and seeing the view from the bastions we stroll through some very atmospheric streets into Rabat. We then walk through the narrow winding streets of Rabat to get in the centre of the town where after walking past the St Paul's Church we stop to make ħobż biz-zejt whilst trying two local craft beers. We finish at a local restaurant trying the star of Maltese cuisine, obviously rabbit, along with which some other Maltese traditional delicacies and a glass of local red wine.

I have been working for Heritage Malta, which is the national agency for cultural heritage in Malta since 1992. From the meeting point we will head off to Mdina gate, where we'll explore the silent cities streets stopping by palace’s, observing and admiring the facades, the cathedral, whilst making our way to the bastions to admire the beautiful view of Malta. Walking through the medieval streets of the city we’ll head to Rabat and on our way to St.Paul’s church we’ll stop for a short break at Tas-Serkin, a café which is over 100 years old where I’ll offer you the best pastizzi in Malta and a kinnie to go with it.
