Gleaming in gold, the Royal Palace is one of Phnom Penh’s most splendid architectural achievements. It is home to His Majesty Preah Bat smdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk and Her Majesty Preah Reach Akka-Mohesey Norodom Monineath. The palace was built in 1866 by His Majeaty Preah Bat Norodom, great grandfather to our current King.

Next, head to Silver Pagoda in Phnom Penh is such a phenomenal area in Cambodia filled with hundreds of years of history. The sculptures and sheer construction of the palace leaves even the most seasoned traveler in awe because of the stunning structure. The Silver Pagoda is considered grand and magnificent because there is no other place in the world where you can see such significant spectacles of historical treasures. In addition to the fantastic and somewhat, dazzling grandeur, it is also a place of worship and temple.

Continue to National Museum. Cambodia’s National Museum offers a charming setting for a stunning collection of ancient Khmer art. Predominantly constructed of sandstone, the sculptures date from both the Angkorean and pre-Angkorean eras. These exhibits are complemented by more recent examples of Cambodian art. The museum is housed in a terra-cotta-roofed structure of traditional Cambodian design, which was built between 1917 and 1920.

Next up, you visit Wat Phnom. The temple has a strong connection with establishment of the capital city of Cambodia. The current name of the city Phnom-Penh in native language means literally the hill of Ms. Penh. According to a legend, a woman named Penh found a lot of little statues of Buddha in the river, and established the first settlement. She had the Wat Phnom temple built on the nearby hill to celebrate the Buddha statues found in the river. It is widely believed that the Wat Phnom temple was built in 1373.
