We have extensively researched the history of Kirirom mountain, conducted oral interviews with the royal family, former soldiers and residents about the 1960s and 1970s. Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Kirirom National Park, Kampong Speu Cambodia
On the way to Kirirom Mountain, we stop for 15 minutes at Wat Snguon Pich and 45 minutes at Ampe Phnom Temple. Wat Snguon Pich was the home of a famous abbot who was close to King Sihanouk and who was able to stop fighting around his temple in the early 1970s. Ampe Phnom is an important killing field and a place renowned for famous fortune tellers. When we reach Kirirom Mountain, the ZIN tour stops at i) Yeay Mao shrine, ii) the plateau of ruins – a short 20 minute trek through a place with many abandoned 1960s villas, iii) the King’s treasury, iv) the King’s palace, and v) the old temple used by the royal family. We will also visit Heaven’s Cliff.
