Siem Reap Trip Overview

Welcome to PJ Angkor Tour! We are a group of professional English-Speaking Tour Guide in Siem Reap. This is a private 5-day tour of Siem Reap and Preah Vihear province. On the first day, we will see a beautiful sunrise. Then, we visit Bayon, smiling-face temple and Baphuon, the pyramid-shape temple. Ta Prohm or Tomb Raider temple has a stunning view of growing tree on the temple. Second day, we will come to Kbal Spean or the River of 1000 Lingas, Banteay Srei or Citadel of Women and Landmine Museum. On the thirday, we will take a hiking tour to Phnom Kulen national park. We spend our time discover the waterfall, temples, villages and a giant reclining Buddha. After that, we will go to Kampong Phluk, a floating village in Tonle Sap. Bakong is the last temple of the day. It is the first mountain temple, older than Angkor Wat. On fourth day, we will visit Beng Meal or Angkor Wat sister and Koh Ker temple group. We will come back to Siem Reap on day 5.

What to Expect When Visiting Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia

Itinerary

Day 1: Angkor Wat Sunrise

Stop At: Angkor Wat, Sangkat Nokor Thum, Siem Reap Cambodia
The tour will allow you to capture the beauty of wonderful sunrise in front of Angkor Wat. We’ll start our trip early in the morning and head to Angkor Wat. Sunrise at the world largest religious monument creates a wonderful view that you’ve never seen before.

Stop At: Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom, Siem Reap Cambodia
Then, we continue our trip to see the second largest Angkor Capital, the Angkor Thom. There is a temple at the center of the city, called Bayon. This temple was built by the great Khmer King Jayavarman VII. The temple has 54 giant faces of Avalokiteshvara, smiling and looking you at every corner.

Stop At: Baphuon Temple, Angkor Tom Angkor Archaeological Park, Siem Reap 17252 Cambodia
Baphuon temple is a three-tiered pyramid temple in Angkor Thom. This beautiful temple has steep stairs which lead visitors to the top to see the best view of Angkor Thom.

Stop At: Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor Archaeological Park, Siem Reap 21000 Cambodia
Ta Prohm or Tomb Raider (nick name) temple is next temple, we’ll visit. It got this nickname when Tomb Raider movie had several scenes in the temple. Big trees grow and intertwine its roots over the temple, make strange and unique views of the hidden-jungle temple.

Day 2: Kbal Spean and Banteay Srei

Stop At: Kbal Spean, Angkor Kulen Hills, Siem Reap Cambodia
Kbal Spean is a valley of 1000 Lingas, located deep in the jungle of Phnom Kulen. Lingas were carved into the riverbed with other image of Hindu deities. It is a beautiful site to visit in Siem Reap

Stop At: Banteay Srei, Siem Reap Cambodia
A beautiful temple out of Angkor Archaeological park, Banteay Srei is a 10th-century east of Siem Reap province. The name Banteay Srei means Citadel of Women because it is said that the temple was built by women. Red stone blocks were used to construct Banteay Srei. The codition of the temple stand still today with beautiful carvings of Angkorean arts.

Stop At: Cambodia Landmine Museum, Angkor National Park, 7km south of Banteay Srey Temple, Siem Reap Cambodia
Cambodia was ruined by civil war for decades. The Khmer Rouge era was a destruction to Cambodia, killing almost 2 million people due to the mass killing, torture, starvations and so on. After the war finished, Cambodia still faces another problem, the landmines. Millions of them still in the ground, impacted the culture and livelihood of people. Cambodia Landmine Museum is a non-governmental organization helps clearing landmines. It has a museum displaying many types of extracted mines and other weaponries. It is a worth seeing and learn the history of Cambodia.

Day 3: Kulen National Park and Lake-Side Village

Stop At: Phnom Kulen National Park, Cambodia
Phnom Kulen is a largest natural park in Siem Reap. This sacred mountain is considered as the birth of Angkor era. It has a waterfall, forest, temples, a giant buddha, villages and many other beautiful sites.

Stop At: Kampong Phluk Floating Village, Siem Reap Cambodia
Kampong Phluk is a floating village in Siem Reap province. Stilt houses are built very high to prevent from the flood of Tonle Sap. The community consists of 3000 villagers depend on fishing and tourism for survive. In dry seasons (November to June), travelers can take a boat ride to the village and take a walking tour, but in rainy season (June to October) only boats can access to the village. It is very exciting to see mangrove trees, especially taking a small rowing boat into the forest.

Stop At: Bakong, Roluos, Siem Reap Cambodia
Bakong is a temple in Roluos group and the first mountain temple constructed by the rulers of Khmer empire. It is a pyramid-shaped temple and older than Angkor Wat. The temple is similar to Borobudur temple in Java. In the evening, travelers can watch a beautiful sunset in the rice field.

Day 4: Beng Mealea and Koh Ker

Stop At: Beng Mealea, 40 km east of Angkor Wat Cambodia
In the morning, we’ll leave around 8 o’clock. About 60km into the journey, we’ll stop at Beng Mealea temple. Here you can explore a beautiful temple which has been left to ruins. The jungle has slowly taken over and it’s a great site to visit.

Stop At: Koh Ker Temple, RN64 – 2km south KOH KER site entrance and Srayang 100 Km North of Siem Reap Cambodia
We’ll then continue our journey out to Koh Ker temple. Koh Kor was briefly the capital city of the Angkor Empire between the years 921 and 946 under King Jayavarman V. He built nearly 140 temples in Koh Ker as well as a large reservoir. Nowadays, it’s a National Pakr. We’ll spend the night in Saem district.

Day 5: Back to Siem Reap

Stop At: Siem Reap, Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province
It is the last day of our trip. After visiting many fascinating sites in Cambodia, we will come back to Siem Reap town.
