What to Expect When Visiting Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia
You will discover the traditional and local way of life, by cycling in the countryside, encountering locals, cook 3 special dishes at a Cambodian home and go and visit a monastery to give alms. You receive a blessing and spend an authentic moment with a family!
Your private English speaking tour guide will meet you at your hotel with mountain bikes ready for the day’s adventure. We quickly make our way outside of Siem Reap and into the lovely surrounding countryside. Rolling at a leisurely pace, we ride through small villages with traditional Khmer houses, your guide will show you about local people lives.
This ride should take no longer than 1.30 hour.
After your local market visit, we will cycle to a local family’s house. Start cooking a few of the signature dishes of a local Cambodian family.
After you have finished your Khmer cooking, the chef and his wife will show you how to pack the meal and some rice into a banana leaf. A short walk will take us to the pagoda where the monks live so you can offer the alms. Buddhist monks live away from their families and are not allowed to have normal jobs. They depend on the faith and charity of the local people. After your offering, the monk will give you a blessing and you can ask him everything you like to know regarding Cambodian culture and Buddhism.
You will then have lunch with the whole family, take a nap in the nature and cycle back into town.
