Pass By: Tonle Sap Lake, Lower Mekong Basin Cambodia

After we have explored the flooded forests we proceed down further the Kompong Phluk river and onto the Lake proper, at times there are floating villages on the lake,other times they are in the river itself, but which ever time it is its a great way to explore and discover the river and lake systems, when entering the great lake(Tonle Sap) you will be amazed at the actual size,the Great Tonle Sap lake,is huge and goes much further than the eye can see,in fact its over 200km long and from this point over 40km wide,so a great lake in deed, of course the boats we use have a special designed flat bottom so regardless of the time of year we can safely travel and traverse this unique and interesting lake and river system.after this lake cruise,we will head up the river and pass the actual township from another entry and proceed to our transport back into town.

Stop At: Kompong Phluk, On the Tonle Sap, Siem Reap Cambodia

Our expert local guide and driver who are both from this village will show you the Kompong Phluk rivers and the town itself, as the water levels in the great lake can vary from half meter to over 10 meters ,so can the actual village and rivers do the same,as such the village of Kompong Phluk is built on stilts some 12 meters high,to allow for the constant seasonal variation of the water. together with the flooded forest makes this a very unique and interesting village to explore,we will dock along side the Monks Training school, and inspection of the large Pergola is certainly a highlight with its extensive and beautiful art work on its walls and ceiling,with schools,homes,shops,boat builders,fishing net repairs, its certainly a great village to explore,after which we will proceed to the magical and quite flooded forests,also passing a few floating homes on our way there,all in all a great way to spend a few hours away from the Temples and enter a place time seems to have forgotten.
