Today, the ruins are overgrown and seemingly forgotten by the bustling Angkor tourism industry. Its solitude and mystery make it a hidden gem for explorers of the region. Tall trees cast shade over Buddhist bas-reliefs, and many hours can be spent on its meandering design.

After exploring Angkor Wat and Banteay Kdei, we’ll take a break for a delicious breakfast and relax with the best view of the Srah Srang reservoir.

Constructed in the 12th century as a state temple of King Jayavarman VII, Bayon Temple is located right in the heart of Angkor Thom. It is a perfect sample of the artistic brilliance of the most renowned king of Khmer Empire. The 54 towers of Bayon are decorated with 216 smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara.
