Siem Reap Trip Overview

At 8:00am, pick up you from your hotel for the day’s tour. Your first visit is the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk and see the ancient capital of Angkor Thom before we head onwards to Bayon temple which is unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Baphuon is like an artificial mountain that recently reopened after years of restoration. Following, you may visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Then continue to the popular temple of Ta Prohm which is the modern name of the temple at Angkor.

After enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple, Angkor park’s most revered temple and the largest religious monument in the world. Embark on a journey through the history of Angkor. First stop is the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. We visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom built in the late 12th century

Stop At: Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom, Siem Reap Cambodia

The Bayon is a richly decorated Khmer Buddhist temple, built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII. The temple is very unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Exploring the many faces as you explore the winding stairwells of the famed temple.

Stop At: Baphuon Temple, Angkor Archaelogical Park, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

We visit Baphuon, a Khmer temple converted into Buddhist temple in the 15th century. Its platform is like an artificial mountain that recently re-opened after years of restoration.

Following this we visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace whose trunked elephants line the outer walls and the Terrace of the Leper King with its intricate carvings.

Stop At: Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor Archaeological Park, Siem Reap 21000 Cambodia

The day ends at one of Angkor’s most popular temples, Ta Prohm. The modern name of this Angkorian temple built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries, Ta Prohm was most notably made famous for being the location where they filmed the Tomb Raider movie. Take time to explore the tree-covered ruins deep in the jungle before returning to Siem Reap town and enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.

We head outside of town to the magnificent Angkor Wat. The largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat was constructed to represent Mount Meru, the Hindu/Buddhist home of the gods. Inside the temple, the walls are covered with stone carvings and bas‐reliefs which is quite breath-taking. We take time to explore the inside and the outside of the temple and its grounds, learning about the stories of the intricate stone walls. Your guide will explain the significance of the temple before you have time to explore on your own.
