What to Expect When Visiting Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia

On this day tour we explore the beautiful countryside around Siem Reap by vintage American army jeep. We will take a short bike ride along red dirt tracks through scenic local villages and rice fields, enjoy a tasty lunch with the locals in a stilted village house and take a boat ride out to Kompong Khleang, Cambodia’s largest and most authentic floating village.

We will pick you up from your hotel by jeep at 8am and set out into the beautiful countryside. We will cycle along the red soil roads through the villages and rice fields. It is going to be a nice and peaceful ride which is flat throughout. We will stop by the local fish market where we can observe the traditional Khmer fish trade, a daily event.

We then take a break for cool refreshments in the village. We then continue our journey with a visit of one of the most impressive floating villages in Cambodia – Kompong Khleang.  We board a boat and head out to explore the floating village.

Lunch will be served in a stilted house in the village where we share a typical Khmer lunch with the friendly locals. We then hop back on the boat and head to an island where a pagoda is located. You can walk by the monk school and watch the monks go about their daily routines.

Next, we proceed to the Vietnamese floating village. This village is unlike the rest of Kompong Khleang. The Vietnamese Village is not composed of stilt houses. The houses there are built on floating objects. The village moves along the river and sometimes up to the lake depending on the season. They have a floating school, a hospital, local shops, and even a hairdresser! A spectacular sight indeed.
