Our full-day, advanced bicycle tour takes you around the lesser known temples of the Angkor complex! On this tour, you are guaranteed a peaceful ride away from other tourists—and a yummy lunch!
Stop 1: Villages along the River
We begin our ride with Butterfly Tours’ signature style: A lovely ride through local Cambodian villages. This 15 minute ride takes you to away from the luxurious hotels of Siem Reap city to the tiny routes littering local villages. Get to know friendly villagers, and be sure to send out plenty of waves to the little children chasing our bikes!
Stop 2: Angkor Wat
Next, we will take a trail that leads you behind Angkor Wat—no temple ticket required! This is a route that very few take, guaranteeing a peaceful and unobstructed view of this magnificent complex that holds great historical and religious significance to many Cambodians.
Stop 4: Ancient Stairs of Bakheng Temple
Our trail then leads you around Bakheng Mountain, where you will eventually reach a temple known for its ancient stairs. Learn more about the significance of the stairs in relation to Bakheng Temple’s construction, which is guarded by two fierce lions!
Stop 6: Trail to Preah Khan
Next up: Preah Khan Temple! As your guide tells you more about this temple, be sure to look out for the finely carved structures and the 5 metre tall garudas—a mythical bird significant to Hindu-Buddhist mythology.
Stop 7: Lunch at Neak Pean Temple
Hungry? We sure are! We will lead you on a hidden trail behind Neak Pean Temple, where we will then take a longer stop (30 minutes) to relax and enjoy a delicious local lunch!
Stop 8: Rice Paddy Trail
With our tummies filled, we will now embark on a trail that leads us across the vast landscape of rice paddies. We will make a few stops along this trail, where you will be able to learn more about Cambodia’s traditional agriculture and even try out some paddy planting with local farmers—a sure way to make new friends! Our tour ends with an off road ride back to the city.
