Let’s beautifully display your calligraphy in a traditional way. I’ll teach you calligraphy from scratch, so even beginners can feel at ease. In our activity, we don’t stop at calligraphy practice-we also guide you through making a traditional Kakejiku (hanging scroll). You’ll have about an hour to practice calligraphy thoroughly, ensuring that even first-timers can write confidently. On the spot, we’ll turn your chosen calligraphy piece into a kakejiku, allowing you to select the best one from your practice to become your final artwork. Unlike typical calligraphy experiences where pre-made paper or scrolls leave no room for mistakes, I, as the successor of a kakejiku studio with over 100 years of history, am skilled in scroll-making. This is a one-of-a-kind experience in Japan where you can create both calligraphy and a kakejiku in the same day!

This is a 2-hour calligraphy workshop in Namba, downtown Osaka. Even if you are a beginner, no worries as a Japanese calligraphy instructor will give you detailed instructions step by step. Writing Japanese using a brush and ink will be an unforgettable experience. In this workshop, you will know what the Japanese calligraphy really is besides learning calligraphy with writing your own name in kanji or katakana. At the end of the workshop, you will create a one-of-a-kind handwritten souvenir by writing your name on colored paper or on a name tag. Write your own name in Japanese and take it home with you, along with your memories of Japan. Dotonbori, Nihonbashi, and Kuromon Market are close by, so you can go to those areas before or after the workshop, so you can make the most of your day!

Enjoy the calligraphy experience of traditional Japanese culture. With 25 years of experience as a calligraphy instructor, I will provide you with easy-to-understand and detailed instruction. We will talk about Japanese letters, explain how to use calligraphy tools, and teach you the basics of how to use a brush. Then, students choose one of the 12 kanji that are popular overseas, practice it, and write it on a Japanese board. Sign your name, place it in a special art frame, and your original work of art is complete. You can take it home, so please display it at home. At the end, enjoy green tea and Japanese sweets, and take a commemorative photo. It will be a wonderful memory for you. The event will be held on the first floor of a hotel in Shinsaibashi, the center of Osaka. It's very convenient, just 1 minute walk from the subway station.

Workshop only for children (between 5 and 12 years old). Writing with harmony and without tension reduces stress and develops mental serenity and emotional well-being. With the advances of rational calligraphic science we will teach you the natural biomechanics that allows you to write with a relaxed hand, feel the “dance” of the pencil on the paper and listen to the music and rhythm of the letters, pure swing! Activity take place in 300-year-old Zen temple. Being away from the tourist spot, this place is really quiet and relaxing. Calligraphy has imported to Japan during 6C from China. Learn to draw the line with brush. Check the sample carefully to copy the Chinese charactor. We will ask your name so that we can prepare your name in Japanese Phonetics. Practice your name in Japanese. Write your letter on the rice scoop. Rice scoop(shamoji) is lucky item in Miyajima. Bring back the good luck with you! You can take pictures as much as you want while you are in here, and we will take pictures of you doing the lessons. You can take pictures in our Japanese garden, too. Our lesson is very good introduction to the Japanese authentic cultures. Wearing kimono make it even more special that could be the highlight of your trip.

Have you ever experienced traditional Japanese calligraphy? Each kanji has its own meaning. Please ask the staff what it means to make the sound of your name into kanji. Choose your name or your favorite kanji and write it with a brush. There are also souvenirs.

It is even rare for Japanese people to learn how to write the Japanese letters (Kanji) by a certificated master calligrapher. However, we want you to experience it casually and enjoy it!! You do not need to have any knowledge about it. The place for workshop is in a Japanese restaurant, so you can feel Japanese atmosphere while the activity!! The teacher (Sensei) is really friendly, so you can try calligraphy casually!! We will make the model of letter before you start to write or anytime during the workshop. Also, if you do not know any Japanese words, you can ask us and we will translate to Japanese words!! We can even make your Japanese name too!!
