The Golden Circle is the most visited and popular day trip in Iceland. Kerid crater is 270m wide and more than 55m deep, there is also a 14m deep lake at the bottom of the crater which makes the whole scene look really magical. The geothermal energy exhibition provides an amazing opportunity for guests to learn more about how the famous Icelandic sustainable energy is produced. The power plant is one of the largest single-site geothermal plants in the world, and is located in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains and lava. There are several locations inside the exhibition for visitors to view stunning Icelandic landscapes year-round while enjoying a cup of coffee or other light refreshments (available to purchase on-site). This is a perfect first stop along the route to the southern region of the country, and there are excellent hiking paths nearby.
