Glacier Country Helicopters is a local, family owned and operated company based in Franz Josef, on the West Coast of New Zealand. Husband and wife team Gus and Poppy started the company in January 2014 and you'll generally find one of them out flying most days. On our Glacier Explorer flight you'll fly over the Franz Josef Glacier and then into the Southern Alps to enjoy the included 10-minute snow landing for photos. Total experience time approx. 25 minutes. Please note during the summer snow levels may be low & this could be an alpine landing (no snow). For guaranteed snow we recommend booking a longer flight. If you wish to book a Comfort Seat or request a Front Seat / Executive Helicopter Upgrade, please contact us at least 24hours in advance of your flight. *This 25minute flight has the highest rate of cancellation as it only has one flight route & landing site so no back up options if its route is weather effected unlike the longer flights which have multiple options.

If you're new to white water rafting trips, no worries, as you have four miles of relatively calm water to learn the paddle commands and how to paddle effectively as a team. Along the way there are incredible views into Glacier National Park's dramatic terrain. Once you get to John Stevens Canyon the river picks up speed and your adventure really begins. You'll need all of that practice from upstream to execute the commands in the white water. With rapids like Bonecrusher, Jaws and the Notch (to name a few) your crew is sure to have an exciting time.

The Excursion begins when we pick you up in our minibus with its driver and a professional tour guide, to go to Los Glaciares National Park. In a journey of almost 80 km until we reach the park, we will enjoy the beautiful landscape of Patagonia that paints us with mountains, lakes and forests. We will have time to have lunch at one of the restaurants located in the park. Finally, late in the afternoon, we will return to El Calafate.

Minitrekking is a Full day Excursion that allows you to walk on the top of a Moreno Glacier with crampons. Operation from August to May. Does not operate during June and July. Duration: 10 hours Trekking on the Ice: About an hour and a half. Total trekking time: approximately 3 hours. Warning: this excursion, due to the degree of effort and difficulty that presents, is not advisable for the following people: greater of 65 years and minors of 10 years old, pregnant women, people with overweight or some type of disability.

We will try to time the visit to the ice cave well, giving you more time to enjoy the amazing wild nature around the glacier. Excursion to Los Glaciares National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. On this visit there will be a short walk along the walkways and balconies, to contemplate the greatness of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Explore Glacier National Park's Wild and Scenic border river, the Middle Fork Flathead, with our highly trained, friendly, interpretive river guides. First, float a relaxing stretch of river. Next, your guide selects a secluded spot for a delicious, buffet style lunch. Our kitchen sources locally and organically whenever possible, and you’ll taste the difference! After lunch, explore 9 named rapids – typically rated class II and III. Bonecrusher is always a favorite! This is a fun and splashy adventure through pristine, glacially fed waters. Finally, float beneath Glacier’s historic Old Belton Bridge. Your adventure ends in West Glacier with a 5 minute bus ride back to our campus. Trips depart rain or shine.
