This is an eye-opening experience where you will be able to learn about local life and how progressive these people are. Walk up the steep steps through the community while you are listening to our guide about the development of the "barrio". See and get the best pictures of the art murals painted by the locals who had a very dark past, but now they have changed their lives through the art. At the end, we get to the top of the barrio to get a general view of Lima. We run this tour along with "Color Energía '', an organization created by local artists and neighbours of Leticia,, which is a "barrio" located on the hillsides. We support each other in this activity to promote this project as a tourist attraction. A percentage from the money you pay is going directly to the cleaness and the neighbor who comes with us on the tour.

We will spend the morning in the local market picking out all of the ingredients needed to prepare our authentic flavorful meal. You will see the local market women carrying things on their head as they try to sell their products. Once we return to the bar we will start to prepare the meal. You will learn how to "pound" the Banku, Fufu, Jiji or rice balls over the open fire. Then we will prepare the stew or soup of your choice (depending on diet). This is a guided tour of a village with historic temples, stepwells and a royal palace (now a luxury hotel). The tour guides grew up in the village and still live there and will introduce travellers to its villagers and artisans who themselves can provide guided instruction on their arts, for example pottery, jewellery and stitching. The guides will also take travellers into old temples, access to which is normally restricted to worshipers. The tour provides a unique opportunity to see a real part of India which is not otherwise seen by tourists and to learn about its way of life. The tour is in fact an initiative of the NGO Seva Mandir in order to help preserve and highlight the unique heritage of Delwara and to provide job opportunities to its young guides who run the tour.
