The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre presents two world-class exhibitions. The first is the original ‘Knights of the Sky’ exhibition, featuring Sir Peter Jackson's own collection of WWI aircraft and artifacts. The story of aviation in the Great War is brought to life in sensational sets created by the internationally acclaimed talent of WingNut Films and Weta Workshop.  The second is the new exhibition ‘Dangerous Skies’ features stories from World War II. These are tales of daring, valour and tragedy stretching from the British Isles to the forests of Germany, an embattled but courageous Russia and the steaming hot jungles of South East Asia. Two of the star attractions are a twin engine bomber, the world's only flyable Mk1 Avro Anson and a Griffon powered Mk.XIVe Spitfire. Women also feature more prominently in this exhibition and the Battle of Stalingrad is the stage for an immersive experience that is both entertaining and chillingly thought provoking.

Visit the ‘Dangerous Skies’ exhibition which features stories from World War II at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum. This full-day small-group tour from Blenheim or Picton takes you to the Omaka Heritage Aviation Centre (entry fees apply). It is recommended that 1 – 1.5 hours is set aside for you to wander among the life-like displays of the past heritage activities and the most generous collection of personal memorabilia. This heritage delights tour can be tailor-made for your group to mix and match with more heritage options and some wine tasting, visit some of the local artisans and enjoy the scenic aspect of the beautiful Wairau Valley and plains. The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre has combined a rare collection of WW1 and WW2 aircraft with creative display techniques to present a remarkable experience that captures the imagination. Omaka is a world-class destination for appreciating historic aircraft and sharing the stories of the men and women behind the machines. Once the two parts of the museum have been completed, we will have lunch and visit two wineries, indulging in some of the best wines that Marlborough has to offer. 1 hour will be allocated for lunch at one of Marlborough’s most delicious restaurants (cost not included).
