You journey will start in the north of the island, with few short stops at iconic plantations and at famous Blue Lagoon, for sight seeing or for a swim. You will start by visiting a cocoa plantation and discover the many process to transform the fresh beans into dry beans, ready to be transformed into chocolate. Then you may select a place for lunch in the area of Neves, just ask your guide for the best options. Back in the capital, you will have a stop at the Chocolate Boutique of Diogo vaz, where you will enjoy a warm chocolate drink OR a pastry (1 item per person). From the bicycle rental company, you cycle to the Plattebrug where you will board a wooden tent boat to Meerzorg. From Meerzorg you will cycle via the Oost – West verbinding to Peperpot. This plantation was laid out by the Jansen family in the early 19th century as a coffee and cocoa plantation. There are two plantation homes on the factory complex, a coffee shed and a coffee and cacao factory. The production continued until 1996. There is also a kampong (settlement) with workers' houses inhabited by Javanese people, although people have found work elsewhere. You can still recognize the coffee and cacao trees, which are nowadays covered with bromeliads, orchids and climbing plants and the animals have reclaimed the area. Peperpot is popular for bird lovers, but if you are lucky, you can also encounter squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys and sapakaras (giant lizards) on one of the paths that have been laid right through the plantation.
