In the morning you will travel to a small temple of Banteay Srei well known for its beautiful delicate carvings in warm pink sandstone. We are going to visit three temples at the Roluos Group, which includes the Lo Lei Temple, Preah Ko Temple, and Bakong Temple. The site used to be the capital city of the Khmer Empire before it was moved briefly to Koh Ker and then permanently to Angkor Thom. Lastly, we will visit Kompong Phluk Village to watch the sunset.
Tonle Sap Kampong Phluk Village
Kompong Phluk Floating Village is a permanent village opposed to floating, And it's about 25 kilometers east of Chong Khneas. Here is a much better option for you to visit a village on the lake. Kompong Phluk is accessible by boat only. Kompong Phluk is a relatively small village that provides very good insight into the village lifestyle of the Tonle Sap. This village exists almost exclusively on fishing and related activities. Houses are built on stilts up to 10 m high, and the village is surrounded by flooded forest.
Beng Mealea Temple and Rolous Group
Beng Mealea was built as a Hindu temple, but some carvings depict Buddhist motifs. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. For years it was difficult to reach, but a road recently built to the temple complex of Koh Ker passes Beng Mealea and more visitors are coming to the site, as it is 77 km from Siem Reap by road.
Rolous Group Temples plus lunch with Sunset Tour
We visit three temples at what is today called Roluos. The site used to be the capital city of the Khmer Empire before it was moved briefly to Koh Ker and then permanently to Angkor Thom. Lolei is the northernmost temples situated inside the Roluos Group which were built in the late 9th century. All of the temples, Lolei, Preah Ko, and Bakong were Buddhist temples. In Preah Ko, you can see the 3 towers with stone lions and intricate carvings. After lunch, we'll visit a local village and market. You can see how the locals go about their everyday business and stop to look around a market where you can buy cheap gifts for your loved ones. We'll then head over to Bakheng Mountain which was established in the early 10th century to see the wonderful view over Angkor Wat.
